The Western red fox typically comes from the Montana, Wyoming and Idaho. They are a large fox with a pale reddish hue. The term “heavy” refers to the thickness and length of the fur. The western heavy red fox is very silky and an absolutely stunning fur.

Western Heavy “Premium”
-Excellent fur
-Fully prime with no rubbing.
-Full face and ears intact.
-Strong tail

Western Heavy “Medium Grade”
-Excellent fur but may have slight rubbing on flanks.
-Face may have large eye holes but will be intact and have ears.
-There may be slight imperfections, but nothing significant.
- MG’s make good wall hangers and are great for sewing too.

 Western Heavy “Imperfect”
-May have a hole, tear, raggedy face, short tail, etc.
-These have excellent fur but may have rubs.

Western Heavy “No Tail”
-Excellent fur but may have slight rubbing on flanks.
-Face may have large eye holes but will be intact and have ears.
-There may be slight imperfections, but nothing significant.
-This pelt will not have a tail.

-May have a hole, tear, raggedy face, short tail, etc.
