TANNED RACCOON FUR COLLECTION
Raccoon is the most versatile pelt we sell and the best entry point for anyone new to working with fur. The fur is long, soft and forgiving, the leather takes a needle well, and the price makes experimentation affordable.
Sizes and grades
Our northern raccoon is offered in lengths from 28 to 40 inches, so you can buy to the project. Three grades:
- Premium - our best raccoons. Good faces, longer hair than our medium grades, no noticeable holes or rubbing.
- Medium - minor flaws such as a small hole or larger eye openings. Fur may be slightly shorter but remains full and attractive.
- Imperfect - an imperfect face, holes in the hide, thinning areas, or a stiffer though still workable tan. The economy choice.
We also offer coat coon - selected pelts suited to garment work - and a no tail option at reduced cost.
Finn raccoon
Finn raccoon, also known as tanuki or raccoon dog, comes from Finland and is a different animal entirely: long silvery black-tipped guard hairs over dense underfur, with a plush, luxurious feel. It is a favorite for trim, collars and fashion work. Available in LG and 1X-2X.
Beyond the pelt
The collection also includes finished raccoon fur hats, made up and ready to wear.
Raccoon is a strong choice for hats, mittens, pillows, teddy bears, trim work, classroom and educational displays, and rustic decor. Natural colors only, no dyes, so patterns vary from pelt to pelt. Volume discounts apply at 5%, 10% and 15%.
