TANNED LYNX FUR COLLECTION

Lynx is among the most valuable wild furs in the world, and seeing one in person explains why. The coat is exceptionally long, soft and plush - pale silvery grey with subtle spotting, a pronounced facial ruff, and the black ear tufts that make the species instantly recognizable.

What makes lynx exceptional

The belly fur is the prize. Lynx belly is longer, whiter and more heavily spotted than the back, and historically it was worked separately as the most valuable part of the pelt. Even on a full pelt, the contrast between the pale spotted belly and the smoky grey back gives lynx a visual depth that few furs match.

The fur is also remarkably long for a cat - soft, deep and light, adapted for deep snow country across Canada and the northern United States.

Availability

Lynx is a regulated species with tightly controlled harvest, and supply is limited by design. We stock it in Premium, Medium and Imperfect grades when we can get it, and good pelts do not stay listed long. If the collection is showing sold out, call us at (605) 744-0133 - we can tell you what is expected and when, and we are glad to set a pelt aside.

What it is for

At this price point lynx is primarily a display and collection fur - wall hangings, lodge and study decor, and serious collections. It also appears in high-end trim and collar work where a small amount of extraordinary fur is worth the cost. Harvested legally and ethically under regulated seasons in North America, professionally garment tanned.
